The policemen returned fire.During the armed confrontation, two of the men who were pursued by the police ran into a yard at Reliance Place, South Ruimveldt Park, and took cover behind a water tank from where they continued to engage the police.An exchange of gunfire ensued and James and Blackman were shot by the police. They were later taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where they were pronounced dead on arrival.The police said they recovered an unlicenced 9mm.
