He is expected to make another court appearance on July 15.The 47-year-old finally succumbed to her injuries after clinging to life for three weeks. Reports are that Persaud died some time after 11:00 hours on Wednesday at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.On Sunday, the woman was transferred from the Hospital’s Female Surgical Ward to the Intensive Care Unit after her condition reached the stage where doctors had given relatives little hope.The woman was struck down three Sundays ago by a car, which was allegedly driven by the unlicensed 16-year-old.Following the incident, Persaud was paralyzed.The woman’s brother, Vijai Manohar, had told Kaieteur News that he was sitting outside his yard when the accident happened. He said that his sister was standing behind him watching him play, when a car that was coming from a westerly direction suddenly veered out of control.The car had missed the domino players and picked up Persaud and deposited her in a nearby drain.Manohar said that the car uprooted an almond tree before coming to a halt after crashing into a concrete fence. |
