All is not lost for a grand spectacle on February 2. Instead of adults reveling, the nation’s youth are scheduled to take to the streets for a full costume and float parade as part of the official observance of Guyana’s Republic Anniversary. A planning committee is working out the logistics for the children’s float parade.Meanwhile the other activities listed as part of Mashramani 2016 include the national schools’ competition, the chutney competition, junior and senior calypso monarch competitions, a concert for the elderly, the steel pan competition, masquerade, and a street fair.
