Guyana’s Independence Day celebrations are perhaps most fondly remembered by the giant splashes of fiery colour that illuminate the night sky at approximately midnight on May 25 each year, ever since 1966.For the last four years, the spectacle has been a gift to the nation, courtesy of Colonial Life Insurance Company (CLICO) Guyana.“This year we will continue our tradition of ushering in Independence Day with our fireworks exhibition,” according to the Chief Executive Officer of CLICO Guyana, Geeta Singh-Knight,For the last two years, Melrose South Pyrotechnics Inc., a US-based Company,Wholesale NFL Jerseys, has provided CLICO Guyana with the shells and expertise needed to execute the grand display.The planning and execution of the fireworks display takes several grueling months and the fireworks are executed at a cost of approximately $25M. “It is a significant investment…However, when one observes the excited faces of Guyanese citizens at the National Park and hears the screams of awe from around Georgetown during the display, the investment is worthwhile.” |
