A man who was charged in relation to the November 21 smash-up which left two persons dead, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday. Trevor Smith was charged for driving without a licence and for breaching the insurance regulation of the motorcar that he drove. He pleaded guilty to both charges when he faced Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine Beharry.Reports are that on Wednesday,Wholesale Authentic Jerseys, November 21, the accused was behind the wheel of motorcar PNN 8226, proceeding south along the Mahdia airstrip road when he lost control of the vehicle and it toppled over resulting in the death of his father and another person who were both passengers of the vehicle. The defendant was also injured in the accident but was treated at a nearby medical facility and sent home. He was later charged in relation to the fatal incident.Attorney -at -law James Bond, who appeared on behalf of Smith, stated that the man’s father who was a licensed driver was originally behind the steering wheel but was tired and so he decided to let his son drive the vehicle to the destined location.After hearing the lawyer’s submission the Magistrate ordered that Smith be fined $20,000 on each of the two charges or alternatively face two concurrent terms of two weeks imprisonment. |
