Department urged to strive for international accreditation The Laboratory Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation,NFL Jerseys From China, (GPHC) has achieved recertification under the Guyana National Bureau of Standards,Wholesale NFL Jerseys, (GBNS).Staff of the GPHC laboratory Unit enjoys a photo op following the simple certification ceremony, yesterday.The certificate was handed over to officials of laboratory at a simple forum held at GPHC,NFL Jerseys China, yesterday.The GNBS certification is a requirement of the Health Facilities Licensing Act of 2007.The GPHC Medical Laboratory undergoes the process of re-certification every two years under the Laboratory Certification Programme.The documentation was issued after the laboratory is recognised for meeting the requirements of the Guyana Standard (GYS 170) – General requirements for the operation of a Laboratory.GNBS carries out surveillance and monitoring activities during the period of certification to ensure that laboratories are maintaining the system.Through its National Laboratory Certification programme, the GNBS determines whether laboratories involved in testing, measurement and or calibration activities are satisfying the criteria outlined in the National Standard.During the handing over ceremony, Executive Director of the GNBS, Evadnie Enniss, congratulated the staff of the Unit on their excellent performance in the standards and quality of service they delivered.But while she congratulated the department on its achievement, the GNBS Director urged the Unit to work towards attaining greater heights.Ennis encouraged the department to strive towards acquiring accreditation of the ISO 15189 Standard, which is recognized internationally.International accreditation will give the work of the laboratory universal recognition and acceptance. This accreditation provides a uniformed approach for determining laboratory competence by encouraging laboratories to adopt globally accepted testing and measurement practices.This effectively reduces costs for manufacturers, importers and consumers. It also reduces or eliminates the need for products to be retested in another country.Laboratory Director of GPHC, Dr. Pheona Mohamed-Rambarran in her remarks to the gathering expressed delight that the laboratory is once again able to attain recertification to the National Standard. She expressed her gratitude for the support provided by the GNBS and the commitment of her laboratory staff in realizing the achievement.The services provided by the Department cover testing such as Microbiology, Haematology (Blood Compatibility) and Biochemistry Sections of the Laboratory.Dr. Mohamed-Rambarran said that the recent certification highlights the commitment of the Laboratory to provide quality testing to their customers.Meanwhile the GNBS in a release yesterday stated that Laboratories which conform to the requirements of the Bureau’s standard are provided with formal recognition that they have implemented a laboratory management system, thus providing quality assurance for customers as they identify and select reliable testing or calibration services to meet their needs.The recertification of the GPHC Laboratory has kept it among the group of certified medical laboratories in Guyana which includes St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Laboratory, Eureka Medical Laboratories,Wholesale China Jerseys, Dr. Balwant Singh Hospital Laboratory,NFL Jerseys China, Medical Arts Centre Laboratory,NBA Jerseys Store, Georgetown Medical Centre, Quest Medical Centre Laboratory and Woodlands Hospital Laboratory.
