A number of Berbicians of African-descent who have made significant contributions to the development of Berbice and Guyana and the African culture, were recently honored at a simple ceremony held at the New Amsterdam Town Hall.The activity was jointly organised by the Region 6 Committee for the International Year for People of African descent (IYPAD) and the group Revival Awareness and Perpetuation of African Culture (RAPAC).The awardees were presented with certificates for their outstanding achievement in the fields of Education, Business, Medicine, Design and Fashion,Cheap NFL jerseys China, Literature and Art, Culture, Community Development the Legal Profession, Sport, Trade Unionism, Administration and Politics.Some of the Berbicians who were recently honored for their contributions to the development of the ancient county.The guest speaker was New Amsterdam Multilateral School Teacher, Shondel Philips.Philips, who was awarded in New York, last year for her input into Guyana’s culture, noted that it is important that tomorrow’s generation continue to honor great achievers.Among those who also honored were Marcel Crawford,Cheap Jerseys, Senior Counsel, for his contribution in the legal profession; retired Regional Education Officers, Cicely Garret and Catherine Archer; former MP Dr. John Austin and Drs.
