MISSING PIECE: Pro Bowl center Alex Mack's broken leg is not only a major blow to Cleveland's offense but ends an impressive streak of continuity for the line. Hoyer beat out Manziel during Cleveland's quarterback competition and has exceeded expectations, completing 60 percent of his passes for 1,224 yards and seven touchdowns. He's thrown one interception and been sacked just six times, helping make the Browns (3-2) competitive in every game.
"As a whole, it's getting slower," Bortles said. "The more game-time reps, the more game-time experience and exposure that you get, the easier or better job you'll be able to do."
"Most of the people here are not surprised," Browns coach Mike Pettine said. "He can make all the throws. He's got a better arm than you would think. ...
