Dindyal Persaud, aka Steve, a 22-year-old mechanic formerly of Grove, East Bank Demerara, and Richmond, Essequibo, was sentenced to two years’ jail yesterday, with two further six-month jail terms, after he admitted to stealing car parts from two Essequibo businessmen — Mohandas Karachanda and Premchanda Man-Man.His accomplice, driver attached to Guyana Power and Light Essequibo branch, Kevin Padmore, 29, was refused bail by Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty.The duo was jointly charged with four counts of simple larceny. Yesterday, they made their first appearance before Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty at the Charity Magistrate’s Court.The first act was committed on businessman Premchand Man-Man; while,Cheap NFL Jerseys, in the other charge, Persaud stole a wind breaker and motor vehicle from Pooran Man-Man. Persaud also committed acts on Mohandas Karachanda and Roheta Lall.Persaud pleaded guilty to all four charges, while his colleague, Kevin Padmore, pleaded not guilty.According to a police report, between December 10 and Deember 11last, both Persaud and Padmore stole one pair of trafficator lights, one head lamp, and one pair of fog lamps from businessman Man-Man. Dindyal PersaudIt is alleged that, on the same day, Padmore was caught stealing car parts from businessman Mohandas Karachanda. He reportedly tried to escape after the businessman was alerted by a noise coming from his vehicle which was parked in front of his Anna Regina residence.The report further stated that Karachanda raised an alarm and public-spirited persons immediately chased after Padmore. It was alleged that Padmore escaped into a minibus which was parked on the Anna Regina road. The man eventually made good his escape, but not before persons smashed three windows of the minibus.Padmore later made a report to the Anna Regina police station, but was later arrested. Several car parts were found in Padmore’s minibus and at his home in Richmond Village, where his accomplice, Persaud, was found along with a stolen bicycle. When Persaud was arrested and questioned by the police, he admitted to stealing.When asked by the magistrate why he committed the act, Persaud told the court that he was told by Man-Man’s watchman to remove the articles.Padmore is being represented by counsel, Lashely Bobb, who told the court that on the fist occasion the men escaped, and were only caught the second time around.Padmore will make his next appearance on January 15.According to a police report, it is alleged that Persaud was brought up by Padmore to commit those acts.
