Construction of the southern approach road as an alternative roadway to the East Bank Demerara Public Road is in the pipeline. Meanwhile, others believe that the road widening project is needed to facilitate the growing traffic flow.The flow of traffic is expected to increase tremendously within the next five years with the establishment of more housing schemes on the East Bank, West Bank and West Coast of Demerara.According to Benn, the construction of the southern approach is in the pipeline and will not be undertaken soon. He said that it is customary of the Ministry to review its major projects in the making.
