In honour of Father’s Day, the Men’s Affairs Bureau, (MAB) of the Ministry of Social Protection will be hosting a programme under the theme “My Father, My Friend.”  The event will be hosted at the Impeccable Banquet Hall, Brickdam from 17:00hrs today.The programme will feature a blend of cultural items, an interactive segment and dissemination of knowledge in relation to the theme. The programme will be family oriented and will not exclude mothers or other family members who may wish to attend. The purpose of the programme is to create a space and an event that promotes bonding between fathers and their children, not only at the event but for the rest of their lives.The Men’s Affairs Bureau, (MAB) of the Ministry of Labour, Human Services and Social Security has hosted Father’s Day programmes annually.Last year, the MAB hosted its “Like Father, Like Son” event.  The event was held at the Auditorium of St. Stanislaus College, Brickdam.This interactive programme featured dramatic presentations and discussions, as well as indoor and outdoor activities that promote bonding between fathers and their sons.Administrator of MAB, Mr. Diego Alphonso,Cheap Jerseys, noted that the activity is in keeping with the department’s mandate to engage in helping and encouraging men and boys to realize and fulfill their true potential as fathers, husbands, brothers, partners and positive role models in communities and across the country.The  MAB was established as a  department on 4th March 2010 within the Ministry of Labour, Human Services & Social Security and is responsible for partnering, organizing and co-ordinating the activities of men and men’s group throughout the length and breadth of Guyana, so as to address issues relating to and associated with men and masculinity.The Bureau was established to enable men and boys to achieve their full potential as participants in Guyana’s social, cultural and economic development through the identification, acknowledgement and the systematic resolution of problems facing certain sections of the male population.
