The charred remains of 32 year-old taxi driver, Roy Mitchell Persaud, called ‘Otis’ and ‘Fine Man’ of Corsat Dam Agony’s Avenue was discovered in his car in Palmarya, East Canje Berbice early yesterday morning.The discovery was made by persons who were picking up scrap iron in the area.Persaud’s remains were found locked in the trunk of his burnt car,Cheap Stitched Jerseys, PEE 9632.Police are still to ascertain a motive and no arrests have been made.Roy Mitchell Persaud called ‘Otis’ and “Fine Man’Persaud was reported missing on Saturday afternoon by relatives after he failed to return home. Kaieteur News understands that a relative last saw him alive on Friday at around 15:00 hrs. He was wearing blue jeans and a white jersey.According to reports, he had visited his mother’s home at Smythfield around 12:00hrs on Friday.Persaud would usually work late into the night and mainly operated from the junction of Main and Pitt Streets.Persons at the car park told this newspaper that Persaud had picked up some passengers at the junction of Main and Pitt Streets at around 23:00 hrs on Friday.He reportedly indicated that he was heading for Canje.Relatives said that they were told that persons saw a fire in the Palmarya area late Friday night but assumed that someone was burning refuse.He is survived by his wife, Iota Trim, called Julie, who is in Trinidad, his two children, 13-year-old Orlando and eleven-year-old Celina, his mother, ShiraThe burnt carTahal, stepfather and an older sister who is in Trinidad. |
