– issues at Health Center to be addressedApproximately 75 residents of Orealla benefitted from a medical outreach programme, when the Berbice Health Services (BHS) conducted a one day medical outreach exercise to the community. The services included dental procedures. The team of three doctors and other administrative staff was headed by Director of Regional Health Services (RHS) Jevon Stephens who used the opportunity to engage with the staff and inspect the facility.Though serving just over three hundred (300) residents, there are several issues surrounding the Health Center. These include administrative issues, dilapidated structures in parts of the buildings, the lack of adequate facilities for the doctor stationed at the Health Center, leaking pipelines and broken septic tanks among others.Speaking with the Government Information Agency (GINA), Stephens pointed out that he will take immediate actions to rectify the situation. He said he will soon be engaging the Regional Executive Officer (REO) of Region Six, Dr. Veerasammy Ramaya, along with the Minister of Public Health, Dr. George Norton, to discuss possible solutions to the problems.Further, he said the visit was only one of many planned by his Department, to look into the affairs of the people with regard to the health sector.Speaking with villagers and staff members,Cheap Authentic Jerseys, GINA’s Communications Officer received good reviews of the facility’s performance, despite its challenges. Residents expressed satisfaction with the work of the staff at the Health Center whom they described as “courteous.”Sherida Alpin, a Community Health Worker (CHW) attached to the Centre, pointed out that the residents are also very receptive to treatment, and that she “enjoys” working at the facility since the people are “very nice.” (GINA) |
