INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (13-6)
Strengths: QB, RB, WR.
Expectations: Luck has taken the Colts to the playoffs three consecutive years and gone one step deeper each time. The next step is a Super Bowl run. Indy knows that to accomplish that goal, it must run the ball better and stop the run better. Have the Colts improved enough in either area? Time will tell. But there's little doubt the Colts are top dogs in the division. Luck is 16-2 all-time against AFC South foes and has won 13 in a row.
What's New: The Colts believe the 32-year-old Gore and the 34-year-old Johnson have enough left to give Luck even more weapons, and they're hoping a revamped offensive line keeps the QB on his feet more often. Defensively, the Colts were looking for Langford and Art Jones to stop the run -- until Jones injured his left ankle. Now Jones needs surgery and will be out indefinitely. Perhaps the best news defensively is that 2013 NFL sacks champion Robert Mathis was activated sooner than expected and could give the Colts a much stronger pass rush this season.
Fantasy Tip: Of course Luck will score a bundle of points if he stays healthy. He has a deep receiving corps, two proven pass-catching tight ends and Gore grinding it out. But the most underrated fantasy guy could be Johnson, a seven-time Pro Bowler. The 6-foot-3, 229-pound receiver looks like a fast tight end coming out of the slot,Wholesale NHL Jerseys, and Johnson will be playing with his first true franchise quarterback. He could be a sneaky pick.
Weaknesses: OL,Wholesale NFL Jerseys, run defense. |
