In what will be its 19th mission to Guyana in as many years Guyana Watch Inc. (GWI) will be conducting its Annual Medical Outreach from July 15 through July 24, 2011.This year’s team will consist of 12 medical doctors, two dentists, one pharmacist and a number of supporting staff.During this year’s programme, the team expects to see well over 3500 patients at seven medical outreach clinics across Guyana. It will also treat children from 12 orphanages. The group will provide more than US$400,000 in medication.Among the services the visiting medical personnel will perform are consultations, check-ups, dental cleanings and extractions as well as medical and health counseling. They are also in the process of assisting eight children undergo open heart surgery done with two of the children heading to the United States and six to India. Mr. Tony Yassin, President of the Guyana Watch Inc.,Cheap NFL Jerseys, told Kaieteur News that last year the group saw 3,325 patients including 1802 were adults and 973 children. Of this number, 550 took advantage of the dental care offered in the clinics.According to Mr. Yassin, the clinics were all well attended and the entire medical team was very pleased at the turn out. While the activity is an enormous undertaking for organizing its medical supplies, doctors, support staff and funding, it is a labour that Mr. Yassin and the others in the group willingly undertake each year.He noted that it is always gratifying that each year some of the same doctors and other support staff are taking time out of their busy schedules to return to Guyana. He said that most of them do so because of the outpouring of gratitude that they receive from their Guyanese patients. They say that it makes them feel that their work is indeed making a difference. They hope to make the 2011 Outreach an even greater success than last years and encourage as many persons as possible to come out to the clinics in their vicinity. The schedule has been published in today’s issue and will continue to run until the clinics are all wrapped up.Guyana Watch Inc is a Not for Profit Organisation and all of the members of the Medical Team volunteer their services. All group members work without any compensation and provide for their own airfare and accommodation.
