Some employees of Qualfon Guyana INC. located at Lot 64 Republic Road Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara are contending that the negligence of their employers, contributed to the death of former employee Darshanie Matadin.Matadin, 24, formerly of Lot 86, Sixth Street, La Bonne Intention succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC) on Thursday, after complaining of feeling unwell, while she was on duty.A source informed Kaieteur News that the woman took ill at the work place on Tuesday but management at the institution refused permission for her to leave the facility. She collapsed again on Thursday.According to the source, one of the employers and other staff members placed the woman on a chair for her to regain consciousness, but their manager arranged to take Matadin to the hospital hours after the incident occurred. She died several hours later, while receiving medical treatment.The source is contending that Darshanie was afraid of losing her job, which is the reason why she had returned to work. Kaieteur News understands that if an employee stays at home for personal reasons, he /she will be given warning letters, which subsequently lead to termination of their services.When Kaieteur News contacted the management at Qualfon, they stated that special attention was given to the employee as soon as she had complained of feeling unwell.“In fact, we (Qualfon) ensured that on the initial report of not feeling well,Cheap Jerseys For Wholesale, she was asked to be escorted to human resource room, while we summoned our driver and support staff to accompany her to the hospital. Simultaneously contact was made with her relatives (mother); informing them of her medical state and arrangements we made to transport her to the hospital.Ms. Matadin was conscious and communicating with supporting staff from company site to her arrival at the hospital. She was then delivered or handed over to the care of her parents and medical staff.From the time of Ms. Matadin’s passing to date, we are in active contact and support with family at their time of grief and will continue to offer any further support to the family,” said Human Capital Development Department, (HCD) officer, Shaun Prince.Darshanie’s relatives told Kaieteur News that the dead woman had no previous illnesses. |
