All dealt with areas for improvement and pointed out where as a unit some areas were either neglected or little emphasis was being placed. The importance of the internal and external customer was stressed to convey communication skills that can be used in providing service to the students and other University staffers.The Bursary’s performance and teamwork were examined alongside its pitfalls and reflected that additional formal and informal training coupled with rotation of staff were essential in some cases to further enhance its efficiency.This was brought out by the presenters and later through the participants from group assignments. Staff morale and motivation were seen as key factors for improving on the job performance and for retention of staff at the Bursary.Feedback received suggested that the retreat was indeed timely. Immediate implementation of systems and best practices were promised and staff left with a feeling of anticipation for a better working environment.
