Two men have been remanded to prison for charges related to the shooting incident involving a Linden taxi driver on Sunday last. The duo, Justin Yaw and Peter Lamm, of Bent Street Wortmanville, made their appearance yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Priya Beharry. The number one accused, Yaw, has been charged with wounding with intent to murder Kerwin Morris, a taxi driver. It is alleged that on Sunday, August 16, last, at Bamia on theLinden/Soesdyke Highway, he shot Morris. Lam, on the other hand, was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery under arms. The duo pleaded not guilty to their respective charges. He was represented by defense counsel Leslie Sobers while Yaw was unrepresented. Meanwhile,NFL Jerseys From China, in the facts stated by police prosecutor Sherwin Matthews, it was noted that prior to the incident Yaw went to Linden in an unmarked car to do some surveillance work. According to Matthews, Yaw then approached Morris who was at the Linden car park and asked him for his cell number, indicating that he would need him to make a pick up later in the day. The facts further stated that around 14:00hrs, Yaw called Morris to pick him up. While on the highway, police said that Yaw asked Morris to stop so that he could pick up a bag in a bushy location. The prosecutor informed the court that as Morris and the accused were going for the bag, Yaw shot Morris and fled with his car. Matthews said the accused was subsequently arrested and charged. However, no weapon was recovered. At that point police asked that bail be refused for both men since the virtual complainant in the matter is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s High Dependency Unit. Meanwhile, Sobers, who represented Lam, in making a bail application for his client, said the facts stated by the prosecution are nebulous and in no way tie his client to the crime. Sobers said his client is 19 years old and has a prefect alibi as to his whereabouts at the time of the incident. According to Sobers, Lam was home and was nowhere in Linden when the incidentoccurred. The Prosecutor, however, at that point interjected, noting that the conspiracy charge stemmed from the two accused conspiring, prior to the incident, to carry out an armed robbery. The court was further informed that after the shooting incident, Yaw went to Lam and informed him of what transpired. The two, the prosecutor said, then traveled back to Linden where they were arrested. Sobers then noted that he was not running from the fact that his client was arrested in Linden, but it would be proven later in the trial that his client is innocent of the charge. After listening to the arguments, the magistrate ruled in favour of the prosecution and bail was refused. The two men will make their next court appearance on September 16.
