President of the Enterprise Road Safety Association, Chandarpaul Persaud has extended condolences to all mothers who have lost their loved ones on the country’s roads so far this year.Five of the six mothers with their hampers presented by the Enterprise Road Safety Association. Persaud in a Mother’s Day message said that his organisation is pained by the loss of lives as a result of traffic accidents and moreso because many mothers would be mourning the loss of their children.“My heart goes out to those mothers who have lost their children on the road. Just recently, five persons were killed on our roads and we as road safety members hope that from now on no more mothers will have to grieve for their children,” Persaud said.To mark the special occasion, Persaud’s organisation yesterday presented hampers to six mothers of the Enterprise community.These mothers are parents and wives of the founding members of the Enterprise Road Safety Association.“We appreciate the contribution that the past members have made to our organisation and these women are mothers and wives of those members. One of the mothers here represents the origin of this organisation for it was under her house that the body was formed,Cheap Jerseys,” Persaud said.The Enterprise Road Safety Association was formed on September 17 1969 under the presidency of John Narine, who held the post until his death in 1988.Throughout its existence, the association has been working closely with the Guyana Police Force especially the East Coast Demerara Traffic Department and the National Road Safety Council to ensure the safety of road users.Its members have served in various capacities on the National Road Safety Council and have been involved in school lectures and other public initiatives to increase the awareness of proper road use.The group previously held Best Drivers Competitions but because of economic constraints this activity has been shelved.Some members have also been appointed Traffic Wardens.The Enterprise Road Safety Association group also has a support group in the United States of America, which chips in with financial assistance from time to time.
