A 60-year-old Stanleytown, New Amsterdam resident was yesterday sentenced to six months in jail by Magistrate Omeyana Hamilton, at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s court,Cheap Jerseys, after he was found guilty on the charge of indecently assaulting his five-year-old granddaughter. The incident occurred on Saturday September 8, 2007.Prosecutor Roberto Figueira led evidence to show that the accused lived with his daughter and granddaughter at their Stanleytown home.It was revealed that on the day in question, both the young victim and the accused were at home in the upper flat. It was revealed that after a while the girl’s mother went upstairs and observed the accused ‘fingering’ her daughter.She retreated downstairs and armed herself with a piece of wood before returning to confront the man, who was still in the act. A scuffle then ensued between the two adults.The matter was reported and the accused was arrested and charged.In court, attorney at law Michael Baird, who represented the accused, asked the court for leniency. He said that the man has an unblemished record and this was his first brush with the law. He also asked that the man’s age also be taken into consideration and asked that a monetary fine be imposed.In his address, Prosecutor Figueira told the court that a case had been established beyond a reasonable doubt and that the evidence of the prosecution was not challenged by the defence.Magistrate Hamilton after listening to both sides imposed the custodial sentence.
