Lawyer for Archie Poole,Jesus Manuel Corona Mexico Jersey, who was detained at the Brickdam Police Station in connection with the Ministry of Health Fire,Fabian Orellana Chile Jersey, was yesterday prevented from communicating with his lawyer or family member.Poole’s lawyer,Edson Puch Chile Jersey, Mortimer Coddette, told this newspaper that he was summoned to the Brickdam lock-ups yesterday morning by Poole’s family. Coddette said that Poole’s family told him that when they turned up at the Brickdam lock-up with food they were informed that he was not allowed to have any visitors. The family claimed that when they were about to give the food for the police to hand to Poole they were told that he was not allow to accept any food.Coddette said after waiting for almost an hour at the Brickdam Police Station to see an officer he was told that he would not be able to see or speak to his client.“I was told by his family that he hasn’t eaten since Tuesday and because of the condition in the lock-ups he wasn’t feeling well…we wanted to take him to the hospital but we were not allowed to,Francisco Silva Chile Jersey,” Coddette said.He said that when he asked why he was not allowed to see his client he was informed by a senior police officer that some time early yesterday; police ranks caught Poole with a cellular phone in the lock-ups. Cell phones are prohibited, they said.Coddette added that despite pleading with the officer to have his client taken to a medical facility for attention his request was turned down.Poole was arrested on Tuesday at his Soesdyke/Linden home and detained at Brickdam Police Station.Following the fire at the Ministry of Health the police had stated that they had a vested interest in Poole.The Police have also stated that they are interested in former Chief Magistrate Juliet Holder-Allen.Kaieteur News understands that police also detained Kurt Brown, a Norton Street,Emil Salomonsson Sweden Jersey, Lodge resident in connection with the arson investigation.To date two persons have been charged in connection with the fire. On Monday last a Ministry of Finance employee and a miner were charged for setting the Ministry of Health on fire.
