Two women were on Friday remanded to jail after pleading not guilty to allegedly selling four grams of marijuana to an undercover policeman and reportedly having a further 210 grams of cannabis in their possession.Thirty nine-year-old Bibi Abdool and her 17-year-old daughter, both of Lot 41,Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale, Dowding Street, Kitty,Wholesale Jerseys USA, faced Magistrate Allan Wilson on two charges of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking. It was also discovered that the ladies allegedly had the additional portion of cannabis at their home.The defendants were represented by Adrian Thompson who asked for reasonable bail. He argued for the rights of the 17-year-old who he said was underaged and that provided enough special reasons for the girl to be granted bail. He said the girl had only completed secondary level education last year and was unemployed.Thompson also said that the four gram charge which was the only charge the teen faced was one disciplined by a fine and a six-month probation term. Thompson further argued about the harshness of the four gram charge which he said was incorrect since the police did not label it as possession, but as possession for the purpose of trafficking.This was quickly refused by the prosecutor who claimed that since the drug was sold, it clearly indicated that the purpose of the drug was for trafficking. She said the money used by the police to purchase the substance was marked,Jerseys Cheap Wholesale, and because the defendants accepted the cash (which was recovered), it was the perfect scenario of trafficking.The prosecution objected to bail on the seriousness of the offence and asked the court to acknowledge the circumstances under which the women were arrested.Prosecutor Tracymay Gittens also revealed that Bibi Abdool is currently facing Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine- Beharry on similar charges instituted by the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit ranks.The court accepted the application of the prosecution and ordered that the women be remanded until March 13. |
