It is completely up to the Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Kellawan Lall, to share the contents of the Commission of Inquiry Report with officials of the Mayor and City Council of Georgetown (M&CC).This disclosure was made by Commissioner of Inquiry, Keith Burrowes, last evening when he commented on whether the municipality will be able to peruse the report before the hosting of a press conference intended to unveil it. The Commissioner last evening confidently related that he will be hosting a press conference on Friday but noted that he has not been mandated to share the information with the municipality. According to him, that is the responsibility of Minister Lall.Burrowes disclosed that while he is aware that the Minister is studying the report, he could not say by when the Minister will complete the process.He added, too, that although the report contains recommendations to improve the operations of the municipality, there is no guarantee that the government will accept the report in its entirety.City Mayor Hamilton Green at the municipal statutory meeting yesterday spoke of his anxiety about the report. As a consequence he revealed that he had inked a letter to Minister Lall.According to the Mayor, in the letter which was copied to the Commissioner, he highlighted his expectations that before the proposed public exercise that the municipality be privy to the content of the report.However, he noted that he has had no response to the letter which was sent and delivered last week Wednesday.“We have a situation now where we spend millions on two officers who have been gloriously on leave for a year. We have a report which I believe will come out in time. At the right time. We were told Friday but nobody had the courtesy to call the Mayor or the Deputy Mayor or the Town Clerk,Baker Mayfield Jersey,” Green noted.
