– interested in PVC, steel, wood to support housing boomVenezuela is looking to buy building materials from Guyana to support its housingdrive and there may be several opportunities for local businesses,Wholesale NFL Jerseys, the Private Sector Commission (PSC) says.The business body is currently coordinating a visit to Venezuela by private sector operatives who are interested in exporting to that neighbouring country.According to the PSC on Friday, Venezuela is interested in importing several products from Guyana including wood products, wheat flour and pasta as well as steel, PVC and other building materials to support their housing drive.“Exports to Venezuela will be paid for through the Petrocaribe initiative on a similar basis as current exports of rice.”Currently, in a major contract worth over US$50M, farmers are exporting rice and paddy to that neighbouring country and being paid via the PetroCaribe fund.A meeting was held last Wednesday for interested persons and this will be followed up by a second meeting on January 25 at 10:00hrs at the PSC office, Waterloo Street, the organization said.Chairman of the PSC’s Trade and InvestmenVenezuela wants wood, steel and other products from Guyanat Sub-Committee, Clinton Williams, says that persons who wish to export to Venezuela should prepare a list of the products they are offering, their specifications, the quantities available, and export prices.However, Williams noted that while some companies have already submitted information on their products, others have yet to do so. The initiative is being supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Currently, Guyana also has a special agreement with Brazil for the tariff-free export of a number of Guyana’s products.While trade in the region has not always been easy, more and more Guyana has been looking to the regions to sell its products because of cheaper shipping costs. |
