Several drainage and irrigation workers, working along Poker Street and its environs, have challenged the authenticity of the claims made against them by Harold Hutson in Thursday’s edition of the Kaieteur News, under the caption, ‘Wismar residents offended by D&I workers.According to the workers, most of these allegations are lies, and Mr Hutson was only being vindictive. They claimed that the whole issue stemmed from a misunderstanding between Hutson’s spouse, who works with the gang, and a colleague. They also denied running anyone down the street with cutlasses. “We don’t even work with cutlass.”Meanwhile, several residents in and around Poker Street said that while they never witnessed any ‘cutlass drama,’ they are well aware of the uncouth and indisciplined behaviour often displayed by the gang. They were however quick to point out that it is not their intention to jeopardize the livelihood of the workers as, most of whom are poor single parents. They were adamant, though, that it is time the vulgarity stops.Other informed sources have revealed that most of the allegations made by Hutson are true, except for the cutlass allegations, which they said that they knew nothing about. They however stated that this was not to say that they were questioning the man’s credibility.Residents have meanwhile repeated their calls for strict monitoring of the D&I groups, and reiterated that those found guilty of any behaviour deemed lawless or vulgar should be subject to some form of disciplinary action. It was acknowledged by a few residents that while the workers do a good job of keeping the drains and parapets in the community clean, the atrocious behaviour displayed by many is totally unacceptable. The workers yesterday met with D&I coordinator,NFL Jerseys Outlet, Amit Ragbeer. |
