Over 5,000 pensioners have started receiving an annual $20,000 electricity subsidy.According to the Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL), it has started to disburse the Parliamentary-approved annual electricity subsidy and the accounts of 5,610 registered pensioners have been credited.The electricity accounts for pensioners who completed the verification exercise after August 13th will be credited subsequently, the utility company said.GPL says it has credits the accounts of over 5,000 pensions with the first set of the $20,000 subsidy.The $20,000 subsidy was announced earlier this year by Finance Minister, Dr. Ashni Singh as part of a menu of measures in the 2013 budget to assist the vulnerable in society.Currently, in excess of 42,000 old age pensioners receive $12,Wholesale Jerseys Cheap,500 monthly.
