Bandits, sometime between Saturday evening and Sunday morning, broke into two stalls in the New Amsterdam market carting off millions of dollars worth of jewellry.The wall inside of Busjit’s Stall where bandits tried to gain entry.Reports are that bandits broke into the two stalls and were attempting to gain entry to a third,Andre Smith Jersey, but were unsuccessful.Kaieteur News understands that bandits broke into the haberdashery stall owned by Imran Busjit, but did not steal anything since they were apparently trying to gain access to the jewellry stall next door.Busjit showed this newspaper where the boards were removed and a padlock wrenched open by the bandits in an effort to gain entry.However, the owners of the Husain’s Jewellry Store were not as lucky as the thieves managed to gain entry by forcefully removing an iron bar that secured the door.They reportedly stole a large quantity of gold and silver jewellry from the stall before making good their escape. That jewellry store has been robbed at least three times before.The Busjits, who have been operating business in the New Amsterdam Market for the past 45-years, were also robbed three times.Meanwhile, stall owners are complaining about the lack of security in the market and the frequency with which they suffer losses. They are asking that security cameras be installed in the markets.  It is understood that the bandits gained entry to the market by releasing a bolt on one of the doors leading to the main section and climbing through a space created by the door.Police are investigating.Husain’s Jewellry Stall in New Amsterdam Market.
