Construction works to strengthen the Parika Stelling is continuing with authorities appealing for understanding amidst traffic restrictions.On Tuesday, a laden truck was stuck on the stelling after a rotten beam collapsed, snarling traffic for a while.Officials of Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD) which manages the facilities, denied that the incident was caused by the contractor’s negligence.“The rehabilitation work recently started and therefore it could not have been the contractor’s fault…that incident was caused after a rotten beam collapsed on the strain of heavy traffic,” one TH&D worker explained to Kaieteur News.T&HD also said that regular flow of traffic has been temporarily restricted in the Parika Stelling area to facilitate the repairs.This newspaper was told that at least 15 new piles are being driven. “Therefore, we are keeping the big gates temporally closed to control the flow of unnecessary traffic onto the stelling to avoid any possible obstruction of the ongoing work.”To reduce traffic from the area, speedboat passengers going to Bartica,Wholesale MLB Jerseys, Supenaam, and the other Essequibo River islands, are using a side gate.
