The Ministry of Public Health received two fully equipped ambulances from theMinister of Public Health, Dr. George Norton receives the keys to the ambulances from Mehmet Ozkan, representative of the Turkish Government (GINA)Turkish Government yesterday. The vehicles which cost $25M will be used to enhance service delivery and transport time for patients at the facilities, where they will be stationed.Minister of Public Health,Aron Baynes Jersey, Dr. George Norton, said, “These ambulances were locally procured and form a part of a project which was approved by the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA), under the Turkish Cooperation Fund.”He noted that one of the ambulances will be stationed at Skeldon, while the other location is yet to be decided.The Public Health Minister extended gratitude to the Turkish Government for the provision of the ambulances, which he said, will go a long way in improving emergency response.“By extension, you are contributing to the improvement of the delivery of health care services in Guyana and for that I thank you,” he added.The Turkish Government is also making a series of donations to schools across the country through the Ministry of Education. |
