Investigators have released a former policeman and two others who were being questioned about the mysterious shooting death of taxi driver Doulatram Singh.Police officials said that the ex-cop, along with a restaurant owner and a waitress, were all released on station bail yesterday.Kaieteur News understands that detectives swabbed the hands of the three individuals for gunpowder residue.However,Discount Air Max, they are still awaiting the test results, as well as results on ballistic tests that are being done on the .38 revolver that was found near Singh’s body.Yesterday, a team of detectives returned to the Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice Chinese restaurant, where the taxi driver met his death.Singh, called ‘Dara’, succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head two Thursdays ago while drinking with the former policeman.Initial reports had indicated that Singh shot himself. This appeared to be supported by the fact that only one round was in the revolver, while five matching rounds were found in Singh’s pockets.However, an autopsy indicated that the wound might not have been self-inflicted, and this led to detectives arresting the former policeman, the owner of the restaurant and a waitress.Kaieteur News was told that the ex-cop alleged that he was in the washroom when Singh was shot.The restaurant owner and his employer have also denied having any involvement in Singh’s death. |
