The regulatory body has also made its training centre in Kingston available for this purpose.Regarding monitoring, the Minister disclosed that while the GFC has no direct jurisdiction over some of the Amerindian forest lands, the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) and the government-appointed Special Land Use Committee, which has been tasked with developing measures for better mining, are all geared to improve the situation.The Guyana Forestry Commission across the country, has some 25 fixed stations and officers in the larger concessions to monitor activities. In addition, there are scores of monitoring activities being carried out as part of the commission’s mandate.
