Simon’s mother,Mauricio Pinilla Chile Jersey, Mornwattie Simon,Alen Halilovic Jersey, also testified.She told the court that she was there when the incident occurred but begged for leniency for her son.When asked if he had anything to say Romel Simon told the court that he knew Nobrega was his stepdaughter’s boyfriend.According to Simon, he never intended to do anything to Nobrega. “He (Nobrega) was my friend.”He added that he is very sorry for what happened. Simon said that on the night of the incident he parted a fight between Nobrega and another man. Subsequently,Carlos Carmona Chile Jersey, while trying to restrain him, Nobrega stabbed him three times with a knife.
