Colin Gokhul, a 46-year-old resident of Soesdyke/Linden Highway,Hockey Jerseys From China, was on Wednesday sentenced to three years’ imprisonment by Magistrate Anne McClennon at the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court.He had appeared in court charged with unlawfully and maliciously attempting to administer a poisonous substance to Ramgopaul Tejowah, so as to endanger his life and/or cause him grievous bodily harm.On the day in question- Sunday April 10, last, at Loo Creek, along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway, Ramgopaul Tejowah visited his farm, where he cultivates cash crops, and where Gokhul worked.Tejowah reported that the accused appeared under the influence of alcohol.An argument subsequently ensued over money which Tejowah purportedly owed the accused.Some time later Tejowah reportedly left his lunch bowl unattended. He told the police that upon opening his lunch bowl Tejowah said that he got a ‘high scent’ of insecticide.Becoming suspicious Tejowah went to the Mackenzie Police Station where he made a report.Gokhul reportedly confessed that he threw the insecticide in Tejowah’s lunch bowl, because the man owed him money.After pleading guilty, Gokhul stated that he had no previous matter in the court and begged the magistrate for leniency. |
