Head of the Presidential Secretariat and Cabinet Secretary,Isaac Brizuela Mexico Jersey, Dr. Roger Luncheon, yesterday told members of the media that the recent allegations by former High Court Judge,Rodolfo Pizarro Mexico Jersey, Jainarayan Singh,Johnny Herrera Chile Jersey, are ridiculous.Justice Singh is currently awaiting pension payments amounting to $10M for his services as a judge.According to Dr Luncheon,Giovani dos Santos Mexico Jersey, Justice Singh indeed has a problem with the body that appoints, confirms and addresses the conduct and service of judges, namely the Judicial Service Commission. Dr Luncheon said that the statements made by the High Court Judge are being repudiated in its entirety by the administration. He said that the Judge, during his tenure, never made mention of this “olitical interference” whilst he was on the bench. According to Dr Luncheon,Rafael Marquez Mexico Jersey, Justice Singh never made an attempt to directly or indirectly bring to the administration’s attention of how, when, where and why these acts of “political interference” happened. The judge only became unhappy when he encountered difficulties with the resolution of his pension payments, the HPS said. He said that after those difficulties were encountered the former High Court Judge made those mysterious claims of “political interference”.Dr Luncheon further reiterated that the government is strongly denying any political interference, with what the former judge is claiming.Exactly one year after the former judge came off the bench he made public statements about late pension payments after serving as a judge for almost eight years.Justice Jainarayan Singh,Jorge Torres Mexico Jersey, now a lawyer in private practice,Mauricio Isla Chile Jersey, told reporters recently that returning to private practice was done as a means of maintaining himself and family. The former judge said that he is convinced that he is being targeted by the government for his rulings that were not in the government’s favour. He had identified two such cases, one included N&R,Mark Gonzalez Chile Jersey, a company that owned Toucan Suites, a hotel at Eccles that was destroyed by armed forces during a one-night siege with wanted man,Jose Pedro Fuenzalida Chile Jersey, Linden “Blackie” London. The retired judge had ruled that government must pay $125M to the owners of Toucan Suites.Another case was the one-filed last year by the Alliance For Change over money paid to scrutineers. The government had released money to pay party scrutineers during the house-to-house registration on behalf of the Guyana Elections Commission. The judge also ruled against government. |
