A pensioner’s body was found in a canal along Back Road,Steve Larmer Jersey, Soesdyke,Jason Zucker Jersey,A police searches the man’s body while residents on Back Road,Brian Bellows Jersey, Soesdyke,Vince Dunn Jersey, EBD observe.East Bank Demerara (EBD) yesterday.The man was identified as Herman Winters who was in his sixties and who resided at Timehri Base Road,Brian Sutter Jersey, East Bank Demerara with his wife who is a special constable. The union produced no children.Reports reveal that at approximately 6:00hrs a passerby noticed the man’s body in the trench and made a report to the Timehri Police Station. Police were summoned to the scene,Brian Elliott Jersey, took statements and called Lyken Funeral Parlour to remove the body.The man’s bicycle was also removed from the trench. Residents speculated that the man might have lost control of his bicycle while travelling home and rode into the trench where he drowned.“The tyre mark shows that the man was on his bicycle when he crashed into the trench because the tyre mark was deep into the mud.”Another resident noted that the pensioner was described as a labourer who was undertaking some “shovel work” around the area where he was found. “I don’t know if he was going to work or coming from work how they find him.” |
