– Thief released on fineMahasia, called “Shine”,Neal Broten Jersey, a 48–year-old grand mother of Free and Easy Village, Wakenaam Island was yesterday jailed by Magistrate Leron Daly for six months.The sentence was handed down at the Wakenaam Magistrate’s Court after the court found her guilty of purchasing a stolen sewing machine for $1000.The machine had been stolen by Shamlall called “Lall” of Belle Plaine,Brandon Mashinter Jersey, Wakenaam. Shamlall was fined $30,000Mahasia,Nick Foligno Jersey, who was unrepresented was nervous in court. She had earlier said that Lall is her cousin and a mechanic and that he took the machine to her and asked her to keep it a few days until he returned to collect it. He also asked to borrow a thousand dollars to have a few more drinks as he was drinking nearby.The machine was left under a step and was later removed to an old fireside nearby.Some time later the police,Aaron Ekblad Team North America Jersey, acting on a tip,Johnny Oduya Jersey, arrived and found the machine in the fireside.Both Shamlall and the woman were charged. Shamlall testified against Mahasia. He claimed that he sold the machine for $15000 but he was only paid $1000.Shamlall’s neighbour,Al Macinnis Jersey, from whom the machine was stolen, told this newspaper that she had been losing farming implements over a period of time and only suspected Shamlall. Three days before the machine was stolen Shamlall asked her to sell him a machine – that is how he became her suspect.On one occasion when she confronted Shamlall while he was under the influence of alcohol,Ryan Murray Team North America Jersey, and questioned him about the machine, he took out his penis and shook it at her and asked her if that was the machine she was talking about.The matter was reported to the police who detained him for three days and later released him without charge.
