While not detailing at what cost, Minister of State, Joseph Harmon, yesterday unveiled Government’s plan to reward the top performers of the 2015 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA). He made the announcement at this week’s post Cabinet press briefing at the Ministry of the Presidency,Alshon Jeffery Bears Jersey, formerly Office of the Presidency.The plan to reward those who excelled was one that was initiated at the level of Cabinet by Minister of Education,Walter Payton Bears Jersey, Dr Rupert Roopnaraine.And according to Harmon,Dez Bryant Cowboys Jersey, “Cabinet approved of the acquisition of 168 of these instruments (laptops/tablets) to be distributed…â€� The top performing one per cent of this year’s NGSA amounted to 166 pupils – 72 males and 94 females, according to information from the Ministry of Education.The top performers were a mixture of pupils from both the private and public schools but the outstanding performance of private schools this year was particularly noted.Harmon in making public Government’s plan to reward the top performers yesterday noted that the distribution will see top performers from across the country benefiting.This therefore means,Deion Sanders Jersey, the Minister said,Kevin White Jersey, that “pupils who performed well at Kwakwani, at Ituni, at Lethem, at Mahdia,Cody Whitehair Jersey, Georgetown,Rico Gathers Cowboys Jersey, New Amsterdam and all across this country,Dan Hampton Bears Jersey, they will be suitably rewarded for their excellence in these examinations.â€�Harmon also said yesterday that Cabinet has been assured that the Ministry of Education is doing all that it can to ensure that the young people of this country are provided with the tools to ensure that they have better access to information and that they can perform even better at future examinations.A total of 15,Mike Ditka Jersey,225 pupils participated in the NGSA this year.They were required to participate in a total of four subject areas with the highest possible standardised scores obtainable being 138 in Mathematics; 132 in English; 132 in Social Studies and 133 in Science. This therefore meant that the highest possible total score obtainable was 535 marks.Attaining 530 marks was 11-year-old Solomon Cherai of the privately operated Success Elementary primary school.His score was closely followed by his schoolmate 11-year-old Shania Eastman who scored 529 marks.A score of 526 marks was shared by Celine Farinha of Peter’s Hall Primary, Shreya Persaud and Isabella Hussain.The latter two being pupils of the Academy of Excellence in Region Three.
