The runway is currently being expanded to accommodate the flights and the airport will also be in receipt of navigational equipment.Another project set out by the Government to enhance the service and security of air transport is the modernization of the Control Tower at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport. This project seeks to improve the tower facilities and navigational equipment at a cost of $660M and is nationally funded.
