The Inter- American Development Bank (IDB), through its Cultural Center,Mats Zuccarello Rangers Jersey, has issued a grant of US$6,T.J. Oshie Capitals Jersey,000 to the Mainstay-Whyaka Village Council to fund a project title “Mainstreaming Culture Diversity in the Livelihood of Residents”.Mainstay-Whyaka’s Toshao Yvonne Pearson (right) receives the cheque as IDB Country Representative Marco Nicola (centre) joins hands to signify the collaboration The presentation took place yesterday at the IDB boardroom, Kingston,Evgeny Kuznetsov Capitals Jersey, Georgetown,Mike Richter Rangers Jersey, in the presence of media operatives and representatives of the bank. IDB Country Representative,Rod Langway Capitals Jersey, Marco Nicola,Luke Glendening Red Wings Jersey, witnessed the handing over of the cheque to Yvonne Pearson, the Toshao of the village.Ms. Pearson affirmed that the grant will be used to developed ways of sustaining the production of Indigenous Art and Craft,Petr Mrazek Red Wings Jersey, and will also give support for youths to be involved in the development process by promoting the diversity of the Arawak culture.The objective of the project is to revitalize the cultural aspect in conjunction with other developmental activities taking place in the village. Nicola,Jay Beagle Capitals Jersey, meanwhile, commented that the IDB Cultural Center was honoured to be collaborating with the Mainstay-Whyaka Village Council in funding a project of this nature. These undertakings, he stressed,David Desharnais Canadiens Jersey, will strengthen the development of artistic and cultural talent locally.The village is expected to see developments such as a multi-purpose building being constructed, which will be used for reintroducing the traditional Arawak language to young people who reside in Mainstay-Whyaka. |
