The name of that individual was not mentioned.Slade told the police she later placed the shoes in her suitcase and prepared herself to return to her homeland.  Massiah told the court that the woman attempted to describe persons whom she may have dealt with during the period of her stay in Guyana, but the evidence fell short of relevant information and therefore no other persons were held. The woman was arrested and charged for the crime.Magistrate Lovell gave the woman a chance to say something for herself where she told the court that she was sorry about the whole event and it would never happen again.The woman said she just wanted to do her time (in prison) and go home to her children. She said “I was told that I would be coming to Guyana on vacation and the substance was found in my bag so I take responsibility for it. I am responsible.” The convicted felon reiterated. Slade had never been to Guyana.Magistrate Lovell then handed down the four-year sentence telling the woman that she considered the seriousness of the offence, and that she said did not waste the court’s time. The court further ordered the woman to pay a fine of $300,000 with an alternative of six months imprisonment.
