Arresting the scourge of diabetes through awareness was amplified on Sunday last when the observance of World Diabetes Day was kicked off in Region Three by the Region’s Diabetic Association. They were each presented with plaques.Under the theme ‘Act on Diabetes Now’, the week of activities continued on Monday with an outreach programme at the Vreed-en-Hoop Stelling where members of the public were afforded free blood sugar and blood pressure tests and counselling, and referrals were done as well. Outreach activities were also held at the Guysuco Community Centre at Wales yesterday and vision screening is set for today and tomorrow at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.The Uitvlugt Guysuco Community Centre will be the venue for continued outreach activities on Friday and the week of observance will culminate on Saturday with an outing to the Splashmin’s Fun Park.
