A Central Rupununi man who took a cab ride from Georgetown to Parika and couldn’t pay the fare,Jack Ham Steelers Jersey UK, was sentenced to three months in prison after he couldn’t pay a $30,000 fine that was the alternative, yesterday.Antonio Julius Rodriguez,Louis Lipps Steelers Jersey UK,43,Julian Edelman Patriots Jersey UK, who lives at lot 10 Central Rupununi,Eric Rowe Patriots Jersey UK, took the taxi from Bourda Market,James Harrison Steelers Jersey UK, on Regent Street to Parika alone on April 13,Tevin Coleman Falcons Jersey UK, last, and couldn’t pay the $5000 fare.Magistrate Faith McGusty handed down the sentence after Rodriguez told the court that he couldn’t pay the fine. The prosecutor said that to court documents he was charged before the court for around April last year where he was tried for a similar offence. Rodriguez however,Tony Gonzalez Falcons Jersey UK, denied this and claimed he could not remember the incident.The prosecution’s evidence indicated that Rodriguez hired taxi driver,Dave Robinson Packers Jersey UK, Collin Munroe,Austin Hooper Falcons Jersey UK, and on his arrival at Parika he told the man that until he gets his gold sold he wouldn’t be able to pay the fee. Police said Munroe waited for the man but he never appeared. Court heard that Munroe went on a search for him but he was nowhere to be found.Rodriguez pleaded guilty to theft of services on Thursday and was remanded to prison until yesterday where he received his sentence. |
