Two men were on Monday released on $50,000 bail each after it was alleged that they were caught by the police smoking marijuana.Wazeem EduDeo WilliamsAppearing before Magistrate Judy Latchman were Deo Williams, a bus driver, and Wazeem Edu,Sandro Ramirez Jersey, a mason, who both denied that on July 11,Mauricio Pinilla Chile Jersey, they were nabbed by lawmen while smoking cannabis.In relation to Williams’ matter, it was stated by the prosecution that on the day in question, around 23:30hrs, the police, acting on information,Jean Beausejour Jersey, went to Stone Avenue, Campbellville. The defendant was allegedly seen sitting on a piece of tentest and smoking. Upon seeing the police, the defendant threw the item on the ground. The police retrieved the item which was suspected to be cannabis sativa.Williams was told of the offence, arrested and charged.The defendants were represented by Attorney Paul Fung-a-Fat. Police Inspector, Vishnu Hunt prosecuted the matter and did not oppose to bail for the duo.These two matters will be called again on July 23,Johnny Herrera Jersey, for the commencement of trial.Meanwhile,Douglas Barcelona Jersey, in another case on Monday,Dani Alves Jersey, a 30-year-old mother of two was released on $100,000 bail after she denied a drug trafficking charge when she appeared before City Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan.The woman,Gary Medel Chile Jersey, Nadera Persaud, is accused of having 25 grammes of cannabis in her possession on July 11, at Norton Street,Marc-Andre Ter Stegen Jersey, Werk-en-Rust for the purpose of trafficking.The defendant’s attorney, Glenn Hanoman, in a compelling bail application,Rafinha Jersey, informed the court that bail should be considered for his client because the illegal substance was not found in her possession. The lawyer said that the drug was concealed in a house in which Persaud occupies along with other persons. He added that there was also a visually-impaired person in the house at the time of the discovery.Hanoman argued that because Persaud was present in the home at the time of the bust, the police arrested and charged her for the offence.Police Corporal Deniro Jones presented the prosecution’s case. Bail was granted to Persaud on the grounds of the multiple occupancy of the home. The matter was adjourned until August 3. |
