The area where Jones was lying was awash with blood, and the policemen helped to place the severely injured man in their vehicle and rushed him to the Leonora Cottage Hospital.Jones, an employee of Toolsie Persaud Limited, was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.The victim’s reputed wife, Monica Thomas, who is a security guard, told this newspaper that she was not at home at the time of the incident since she was working on the night shift. The woman also recalled that her cousin had threatened to kill her reputed husband because he (Jones) had intervened in the matter previously.The dead man’s mother, Joylyn Simpson, meanwhile, told Kaieteur News that she was at their Diamond, East Bank Demerara home, when she was greeted with the news of her son’s demise. The woman said she last saw her son alive on Monday morning when he left for work. She added that she was not aware of the issue her son had with his “in-laws”.Up to press time the suspect was still at large. |
