We want a whole year of celebrations and Mashramani would be the perfect time to jumpstart that celebration,” said the Minister.Meanwhile, awards were presented to top competitors at this year’s Mashramani Costume Band and Float Parade includingDigicel, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Local Government and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport. A significant number of accolades were also presented to the Guyana Police Force and fashion designer Olympia Small. The latter was awarded Designer of the Year for her work on the Digicel Mash Band.Rounding up the Children’s Mashramani Costume Parade were the Happy Hearts Nursery School, Tucville Primary, Cummings Lodge Secondary and the Hinterland Scholarship Division.Outside the Parade competition, individual winners included Calypso Monarch champion, Manoel ‘King Pearai’ Ferreira and Chutney Monarch victor Roger ‘Young Bill Rogers’ Hinds. While at the ceremony, Carib Soca Monarch king Jumo Primo still managed to garner notable applause for his winner number “Unruly”. |
