He was not required to plead.Blanchard was represented by Defense Counsel Peter Hugh who made an application for a psychiatric assessment to be done on his client to decide whether or not he was mentally capable to stand trial. This request was subsequently granted by the court.Blanchard is before the court for the murder of his three children.
