The Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport launched the first 2010 collection of postage stamps in commemoration of Guyana’s 40th anniversary as a Republic.Prime Minister Samuel Hinds,Jurgen Damm Mexico Jersey, under whose responsibility the Corporation falls,Emil Salomonsson Sweden Jersey, said that the stamps are representative of the struggles that Guyanese have faced and risen above during the period of colonialisation. Additionally, four limited edition stamps were produced in 2009 to show the contradicting presence of change and constancy between two countries that Guyana has shared friendly bilateral relations with, as well as a special Commonwealth stamp at the request of the Commonwealth Secretariat.
