A Little Diamond resident accused of stealing a $2,000 chain was on Monday released on $50,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.Lloyd Burke,Shayne Corson Jersey, 32, a miner, pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on March 21,Ryan Murray Team North America Jersey, at Arangoy Landing,Mark Scheifele Team North America Jersey, Cuyuni River,Joe Mullen Jersey, armed with a piece of wood, he robbed Dillon Crandon of a culture chain valued $2,000 along with $10,000 cash.Prosecutor Police corporal Bharat Mangru told the court that the defendant and the victim are known to each other,Robert Bortuzzo Jersey, since they work at the same gold mining camp. He said that on the day in question at around 15:30hrs, Crandon was heading back to his camp on foot,Scott Darling Jersey, when Burke, armed with a piece of wood,ED Belfour Jersey, approached him. Burke threatened the victim and then relived him of the items before making good his escape.The police were summoned and the defendant was located, arrested,John Gibson Team North America Jersey, and charged with the offence.The prosecutor objected to bail citing the nature and prevalence of the offence.However, the request was overruled by the magistrate and the defendant was released on $50,Brian Bellows Jersey,000 bail.Burke will make his next appearance on April 9 at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court. |
