Rains had helped to further weaken the area.According to Benn,Tony Esposito Jersey, the Ministry is working on designs to install a more permanent solution.In the meantime, works will be done to prevent further damage to the road.The official admitted yesterday that engineers and other backup staffers have been facing problems on undermining from the Demerara River.“We are faced with two choices…either totally abandoning the entire East Bank Demerara road or install permanent structures to protect the roads.”The Minister dismissed some arguments that the Demerara River may have changed its channel toward the eastern bank. This, he said,Martin Havlat Jersey, is more a case of the undermining.Meanwhile, works to repair the area by Craig turn which has been a sore point for river defence officials, have been delayed because of rains and difficulty in procuring materials.M&B Construction has been awarded a $65M contract to install over 300 meters of revetment as well as works on a long stretch of façade.The road in that area has been sinking because of undermining.Spokesperson for M&B,Charlie Coyle Jersey, Rohan Oodit,Jason Spezza Jersey, yesterday admitted that heavy rains had made it difficult for his equipment to enter the area at the Craig sea dam.However, works have since restarted and it is now expected that the contract could be completed by March, Oodit assured.There have been complaints that works have stopped and nothing seemed to be doing.
