A vigilant taxi driver who was shot in the head during a robbery on June 26,Patrick Sharp Jersey, last year,Seth Jones Team North America Jersey, may soon have his day in court after he aided in the arrest of the alleged shooter yesterday.The alleged shooter/robber One year after he was shot and robbed by a lone gunman,Glenn Hall Jersey, Juney Philander, 26, yesterday spotted his shooter cleaning a drain at the corner of Cemetery Road and D’Urban Street. He recognised him immediately.Without raising alarm he summoned the police and the man was arrested. It was subsequently learnt that he was recently released from prison.Philander has since been tasked with producing medical documents from the incident.On the day he was shot,Brandon Dubinsky Jersey, as he sat in his car outside the Oasis Taxi Service base at 5 Hadfield Street,Neal Broten Jersey, Lodge,Nino Niederreiter Jersey, he noticed a suspicious man walking past his car.Seconds later the man brandished a gun and proceeded to rob him of $15,Vladimir Tarasenko Jersey,000 and two cellular phones. The man also shot Philander twice.“I had a good look at he face when he was passing and then again when me and he was fighting with the gun. He shoot me in the back of my head and on me shoulder and run away,Andrew Desjardins Jersey,” Philander recalled.Philander was hospitalised for four days and still bears the entrance and exit scars of the bullet that almost blew his brain out. He also has another scar on his right shoulder as a result of another bullet wound from that fateful night.As faith would have it,Sean Monahan Team North America Jersey, yesterday as Philander was about his business he spotted his alleged shooter.“I know he face from around the area I just didn’t remember from where till I saw he today (yesterday).”Following his arrest the man denied even knowing Philander. He also denied committing the robbery. |
